INSPECTIONS AGAINST WOOD DESTROYING INSECTS

When you need to have your home or property inspected, regardless of whether you suspect damage, whether it is an insurance case or prior to sale, we can help you. We have a number of different types of inspections to offer, including against house longhorn beetles and carpenter ants but also other wood-destroying insects.

House Longhorn Beetle Inspection

Of the insects that attack wood in our buildings, the house longhorn beetle is the best known and at the same time one of those that can cause the greatest damage. The attacks take place hidden inside the timber and sometimes lead to affected bearing capacity in the construction or total destruction with extensive and costly decontamination and repairs as a result.

The house longhorn beetle lays its eggs in cracks and cavities in the wood. After a few weeks, the eggs hatch and the small larvae gnaw their way into the wood. The insidious thing about house buck larvae is that they always avoid damaging the surface of the wood, which means that infestation can last for several years without being detected. In addition, they pack the drilling flour in the passages behind them. Therefore, it is also not possible to detect an attack through the presence of drilling flour. The house longhorn beetle attacks wood from both spruce and pine, but never wood from deciduous trees. The climate on winds is often optimal for larvae as it can get very hot in the summer, which means that they thrive and eat more.

Since an attack can cause extensive damage, a professional inspection of your house is the most effective way to avoid unpleasant surprises. Insurance companies also require that such an inspection be carried out in order for you to be able to take out insurance.
